Who we are

She Builds (“we,” “us,” or “the Publication”) is an editorial publication and community for women working across tech. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to shebuildswit.com and any related properties we operate.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you fill out our contact form, subscribe to our newsletter, or apply to contribute, you share your name, email address, and any message you choose to send. Contributors whose work we publish also share author bios, profile photos, and the content they create with our editors.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, user-agent, page requested) for security and debugging. We may also use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which articles resonate; if so, that analytics tool is named in the third-party services section below.

Cookies. We use the minimum cookies required to run the site. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How we use information

We use the information you provide to reply to inquiries, deliver the newsletter you signed up for, manage contributor accounts in our editorial workflow, and improve the publication. We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that help us operate the site — listed below — and only as needed for them to provide their service. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of She Builds and its readers.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of trusted services to operate the site. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Azure Static Web Apps (or our chosen host) — hosting and edge delivery. Receives standard request logs.
• Resend (or our chosen email provider) — delivers contact-form messages and newsletter signup notifications.
• Unsplash — image delivery. Images are loaded directly from the photographer’s Unsplash hosting.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You also have the right to unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in the footer of each issue.

Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe; contributor accounts are kept while you actively write for us and for a reasonable grace period afterwards; contact-form messages are kept long enough to handle the conversation, then archived or deleted.

Children’s privacy

She Builds is a publication for working professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our service providers may store and process your information in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information — HTTPS everywhere, encrypted storage at our providers, and role-based access for contributor accounts. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify newsletter subscribers and active contributors by email.
